PSC703 Sound card not working.

Hey,wondering if someone has any ideas about getting my sound card working.
Its a phillips PSC703, brand new. It says the device is not working correctly sometimes in the device manager sometimes and other times it says bad drivers and when i try run anything it comes up with an error box saying bad direct sound drivers. I've tried the drivers off the disk, and some off the net, and i've switched pci slots (just incase) but haven't had any luck.
I've also updated my chipset drivers some 4in1 drivers or soemthing as i read somewhere that might help, but it didn't.
Sound wasen't working before i got the card as i lost the drivers disk for my mobo, don't know if that would effect it at all.

My specs are:

Motherboard:
DFI AD77 with Via KT400 Chipset

Processor:
AMD 2000+

Running windows XP Pro 5.01.2600 service pack 1

Sound card:
Phillips PSC703

Think thats all you need.

Cheers.

DirectSound (as in "bad DirectSound drivers") is a software component of DirectX, a free driver from Microsoft. I wonder whether updating this to the latest stable version would help?
You can get it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Also, did you first disable (in the BIOS setup) the on-board sound-chip if one is fitted? This is essential when fitting your own soundcard, otherwise there will be a conflict of resources even if the on-board chip doesn't actually work it must be disabled.

Cheers. Yeah i disabled the onboard sound device, updated my direct sound drivers, updated the chipset drivers, then gave up and pulled the card out. Thanks for the suggestions though guys.
