2 problems, sound a cd driv

ok ok ok

I was browsing for a fix to my problem and i came across this forum.

I see people with the same problem, but as i can see the fix for this problem is computer specific.

I have no sound except for the beeping my computer makes.

And my computer also does not read that my cd drive is even there.

Heres my belarc report.

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Then go here to ECS all your drivers are there http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Downloa...uID=35&LanID=9

not to sure what the CD problem may be, perhaps updating the IDE 4 in 1 chipset drivers may help, but like I say on this point I'm not sure.

Hope this helps

I'm flattered, so glad it worked, have a look at Event Viewer and see if it gives a lead on your CD Drive.
Right click My Computer / Manage / Event Viewer, look at System and Applications, any Red crosses right click / Properties they usally give a reason and a link to M$ with a possible solution

Cheers

Well, ive found something interesting.

I got my drive all plugged in, so im like GREAT its gonna work! Because i found my problem was i was plugging a 40 pin IDE into a 39 pin slot, im not sure that was the exact problem, but whatever.

I also found that the 39pin IDE connecting to my actual Drive, had a second connector. So i figure hey, i plug it in, itll work, right? Because looking at another computer i own, that is how that setup was as well.

I do it, plug it in, and i get an error on the bootup.

I unplug the Mitsumi CD R-RW , and boom, everything loads fine.

It gives me a disk boot error.

And while my computer is detecting the IDEs, it only detects one master, that being my drive. While in fact i have 2 Masters set, my drive, and my CD R. So i try setting it to slave. No help =\

I think im just going to have to buy a whole new cd drive.

The problem is, it used to work until my stepfather took it out to try it in another computer. So i think thats when the problem occured.

I plug in the power cord, and the light on the front of the drive comes on, but i try to open it, and it doesnt even try to open =\

Im sorry this was so long, but thanks for taking the time to read this.

If im not on , and its not to much trouble, could you pm me the solution, or email.

Gotgreen09@hotmail.com

or

Thanks
