No Sound on my Toshiba Tecra M2 notebook :(

Hi,

Sound on my laptop doesn't work.. Have tried the recovery CD, downloading Audio drivers from Toshiba site, but no luck yet.

The SoundMAX installer runs and at the end complains "No Driver Found". Please help. Have mentioned the config details below.

Checked the driver, ADI sound, but there are different versions, Europe gives 5.12.01.5160, the US gives 5.12.01.3870.

First go to Toshiba and download the Chipset Utility install then Restart comp, then install the sound driver again.

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Hope this helps

Hi Barbara,

Thanks for your response.

Did as suggested... Downloaded the chipset utility, installed it. Restarted notebook, and tried installing the ADI-WDM drivers... no luck . The Sound MAX installer runs and at the end complains "No Driver Found. Reboot and try running the setup again.".

Thanks again for help.

Regards,
Sidharth

Yes, did reboot and tried running the installer again... same result.

When i try the Windows troubleshoot wizard, it says no audio device. Don't see anything unusual in Device Manager. Anything specific I should look for, under it?

Thanks!

Check this out
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Properties/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected.Typically the problem will be thay something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device.

Cheers

Go to Device Manager, right click your audio driver, you should see this

Hi,

Its already enabled... when i click on the properties there, in the device status i am getting this msg....

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

But i have downloaded the driver from toshiba support site and i unistalled and installed several time still i am not able solve it.

Also when i goto the sound driver in the device manager there is Exclamatory mark on the driver.

Help me on this. Thanks a lot.

What make and model is your Toshiba, but more importantly what is it's country of origin, Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates.

Thumbs up Tecra Sound Not Working

I recently received a Toshiba Tecra from work and had the sound problem from the start. After researching it and trying a few different solutions, nothing seemed to work. So I started playing with the laptop and finally got it working.
It's simple but odd. One person said that they muted the sound and then could never get it to come back. So I muted my sound. After un-muting it, it came back. Very odd, but it's worth a try:
1) Right click on your Volume control icon
2) Select Adjust Audio Properties
3) Check Mute
4) Select Apply
5) Uncheck Mute
6) Select Apply
7) Test it out!

Good Luck!
