multimedia audio controller problem with sony vaio pcg-tr2ap

Hello

Formatted my Sony Vaio PCG-TR2ap, downloaded the drivers from sony's website but the driver on sony's website for the ADI soundmax driver does not work.., there was still a question mark on multimedia audio controller

I read through the site in detail and installed the relevant chipset drivers and ALC202 drivers from realtek, now it says realtek ac97 but there is still no sound from the speakers

I haven't tried downloading the realtek ALC202 drivers but not the larger size realtek drivers from the realtek website, for some reason I don't think that will help

When you install the chipset you need to RESTART the comp ,then install the audio. get the audio driver from Sony.

i tried what you said already but after installing the chipset drivers, restarting, when i install the sony drivers and restart there is still a question mark on the multimedia audio controller, it doesnt make any difference
the realtek drivers give me a bsod
please help !

Have a look if this is the problem
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Properties/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected.Typically the problem will be thay something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device.

i did check that too, i did xtensive searching on the forum before making a thread

i had a feeling mine was the alc202 and i googled for a set of drivers for those, after installation the device manager shows realtek ac97 subsequentlly but no audio still

I suspect that onoard sound has been disabled in the BIOS, Iv'e been trawling through Sonys helps section, but it's takeing time, I'll look at Phoenix BIOS setup and see what they show

hi, i have read all your helpful hints. but i hav not seen one for sony vaio pcv-rs210. i installed windows xp home again and now no sound device downloaded all drivers and stuff from sony and realtek 97. please help..

According to Everest the Realtek driver is not installed, go here to Realtek
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

download the (Excution file) save to desktop, double click to install

The site is slow

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

I downloaded the driver and installed it. I rebooted my pc but there still is no audio device.

it's No:4 the INF Intel Software Installation Utility
