Unhappy No SOUND from Realtek AUDIO!!!

Hi. Currently im having problems with my PC. There seems to be no sound comiong from the sound drivers. I have several legacy audio drivers and video drivers installed but no sound comes from my speakers. I think my the on-board sound card is Realtek. The location is "unknown" for the following devices.

Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Media Control Devices
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Video Codes

Can you help?!?!

Naz_zaman,

Uninstall your sound drivers from device manager -
Restart - See if it gives you the same error messages.

If it won't update the drivers, it might not recognise the card being connected to the mobo.

Uninstall first, restart, should auto install, check if the drivers have reinstalled, if yes, check for any messages or anything.

See how you go.

I've reinstalled the Realtek Audio 97 drive many times. this time it won't install properly. It says it did, but then I get the message no sound card!
Winamp says @Bad Directsound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration.

What happened was, I was in the middle of recording when my stupid father decided to shut down my laptop by simple closing the cover! He did not know I was recording over night! I've not been able to get anything to work since! (In the sound department.) I'm am very angry and will have my friend answer any posts here (as me) and help me get this working again. Thanks

still no luck

Thanks for the info Kevin. But you see, the problem is that i cant even uninstall the codecs as the option is not available. This is due to the fact that the location of the codecs is "unknown". Therefore, its not picking up anything at all!!! More help needed!!

So when you right click it doesn't give you the option to uninstall / update?

Thats weird, make sure that your sound card is detected in BIOS aswell.

The above were from your first post - The Audio Codecs, if you right clck on the Audio Codecs, can you not uninstall or update?

Thats well weird, if you can update, but can't uninstall??

It could be an issue with either the card or the motherboard not detecting it correctly I suppose.

Disable the card in BIOS - Enter windows, back in to BIOS again and re-enable it, see if it kind of helps. Sorry I can't be more help to you, the card may be failing.
