Problem with USB connections.

Some USB connected devices will no longer work - printer,scanner, plug in flash drive. This suddenly happened. some devices are connected to a hub but one of the ports at the front of the machine no longer works. Is there a way of rectifying this? Running XP Home Edition on Acer Aspire SA80.

Disconnect all USB devices from your Pc, leaving in keyboard and mouse if USB connecters - Remove the drivers.

Right click "My Computer" - Properties - Hardware - Device Manager -
Go to Universal serial bus controllers - Click on the plus sign, you should see several "Root Hubs" uninstall these.

Restart once finished.

Only test 1 USB device - If working, try another and so on and so on.

If the same problem.

Go back in to DM as per above instructions, double click on one of the root hubs click on on the 2nd tab on the top line, and see what the 0ma is, see if its being detected, if not, do the same for the rest.

If none of the devices are recognised, try a system restore, if still the same, you may need to remaster / format the machine, if still the same, new motherboard.
