Multimedia Audio Controller Problems -HeLp! :/

Hello!

I was really hoping someone might be able to help me out with what has been a long standing problem..?!!?

Though I am computer literate I mistakingly updated my multimedia audio controller with c-media audio stuff. Having I think finally managed to uninstall it with Reg Fixer when I try to install the correct sis drivers it reports that:

"The name is already in use either as a service name or or service display name"

& therefore does not allow complete installation. The setup file of the driver just either ceases or says the same thing as Windows.

I have done a Belarc report.

I have a 2ghz AMD, Creative Platinum Audigy SE, 1gb SDRAM, SiS 7012 Audio Controller.

I would be so grateful to anyone who could help as I don't have any sound and things would be a lot nicer if I did..! -Thank You

Are your radio jacks at the top of the tower near mouse and keyboard sockets, or lower down in an exspansion slot. It looks like you have a creative sound card installed, have you 2 sets of radio jacks.I have had this board and it uses C-media with an SiS audio codec, my problem was that it was not enebled in the BIOS, but check the radio jacks first, and then we can take it from there.

Cheers

Leave the BIOS alone for now, go to Control Panel / Sounds & Audio Devices / Audio tab / does it show Creative Audigy, if not click on down arrow, and select Creative Audigy as Default device.

Hope this helps

Hi, Yes it does say it is the default device.

TheAudigy drivers seem Ok ut the Multimedia Audio Controller is still displaying the exclamation mark.

I have tried installing the Cmedia sis 7012 drivers (a12111.zip) and it says that original message "The name is already in use as either a service name or service display name"

The C-Media is for onboard sound which you are not useing, your sound is the Creative Audigy Platinum SE card, you can get the driver here http://uk.europe.creative.com/suppor...pe=1&x=24&y=11

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Hope this helps

HP don't offer an audio for the Pavilion 751n but the motherboard is an Asus P4S333-M

Set a System restore Point before installing just in case

Then go here to Asus http://support.asus.com.tw/download/...Language=en-us

top left under Downloads / Input Model to Search - type P4S / P4S333-M / Audio there is your audio driver

Hope this helps
