nVidia GeForce 5200 Problem

I just picked up an nVidia 5200 PCI Graphics card for my old beater PC because I'm looking to build a Mame arcade and need the TV out capability.

My old PC is a Compaq Presario 5006US
766MHz Celeron
192 MB Ram
20GB HD
OS: Win 2000 Pro

I followed the instruction to the "T" and can not seem to get this right.

If I boot the PC with the monitor plugged into the nVidia card, I can see the compaq logo, then it goes into the Windows 2000 logo, but as the windows desktop appears the screen goes blank.

If I boot the PC with the monitor cable plugged into the default monitor port, the exact opposite happens. I see nothing, but after the PC is done booting, the windows desktop appears.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
