Lost ethernet drivers

I upgraded a computer from 2000 to XP. Unfortunately I found that I do not have the driver disk. While I do not have video, sound and some other drivers, I really need the ethernet drivers so I can get the computer online.

I am getting code 28 "The drivers for this device are not installed" error message. I was told I can go online and get some generic drivers that may work. Any suggestions?

You need to know the make and model of the card in order to find the drivers.

If you don't know that information, download, install and run Belarc. It may be able to identify the card.

If it can't identify the card, you may be able to find what you need by removing the card (with the computer shut down) and looking for a make and model number on it.

Once you have the make and model, go to the card manufacturer's site to find the drivers or post the information back here.

I don't have the original (or any) driver disc. I also don't have a manual. I used Belarc and found I have the following info:

I went to the Intel website and could not clearly find the drivers I need. I did see some of them but not for the ethernet drivers. Only the following:

1394 Net Adapter

Are there generic drivers for this adaptor.

What should I do at this point?
