You need to check whether you have onboard sound or a sound card, both are offered by Dell for your system.

Onboard - your sound jacks will be near your mouse, keyboard sockets on the I/O plate

Sound card - sound jacks much lower down the tower in an exspansion slot

Onboard - driver is the ADI 198x

Sound card - Creative labs Soundblaster

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

Hope this helps
