In Device Manager, any yellow flags showing on the Realtek driver, right click realtek click Update Driver / say No not this time / Next and let it search

It said it couldn't find any newer driver, the date on the current one is 070125.
However, I found a driver pack for the Audigy 2 card, and am downloading it as we speak.
Will return with info on the progress.

I didn't see any option for editing a post, so I'll post again.
I installed the Audigy 2 drivers, disabled the Realtek on-board sound via the BIOS and now I finally have audio!
Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi there I have a compaq presario SR1719UK, just done a clean reinstall of windows to try and sort out sound problems (lack of) made no difference. Device manager tells me I have no multimedia audio controller or SM Bus Controller . I would be massively happy if someone could help me otherwise i am in big trouble! I only have my xp disc so i have no other way of reinstalling my missing drivers. Helllllp! (please) God, I probably havent even managed to post right.

Go here to HP http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s... 9149&lang=en

Under Original drivers -
1st install the Ati Chipset drivers - then restart your comp - this will install SM Bus Controller

2nd install realtek AC'97 audio

Set a System Restore Point before installing Each driver just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions
