No Sound after Reformatting

I bought my new computer about a month ago but I had un-removable viruses for some reason so I reformatted my Windows XP. The problem is, after I reformatted it, my sound stopped working.

At first I thought I needed to restart the computer before everything takes effect, but after like 3 times of constant restarting the sound still didn't work.

I checked my sound device / sound card and everything.. but when I go to Computer Management > Device Manager > Other Devices, there are yellow question marks under PCI Device, SM Bus Controller, and Video Controller (VGA Compatible).

I'm positive that I have a sound card and my audio and all that jazz should be working because it has worked before.. and it just doesn't anymore..

I have tried disabling one of the Other Devices and enabling them again. No luck. I also tried uninstalling, and scanend for hardware changes.

The wizard for the PCI Device, SM Bus Controller, and Video Controller (VGA Compatible) appears but there's no way to install those drivers by installing the software automatically. Neither can I install from a list / specified location because I don't even know where it located.

I also attempted to put / try and install the sound device back from the Intel Express Installer Driver CD but nothing happens when I put in the CD. When I go to the CD Drive (D, it is completely blank.

So right now, all I need to know is where my devices/drivers are located and how to install them onto my system..

I'm so confused and frustrated right now, can anyone help? :/

A format and install will remove all partitions and if your drivers were on a part ion they would have been removed. What make and model of comp do you have, if your not sure get Belarc, copy and paste the report, not software or win update section. you should e able to get the drivers you need from manufacturers site http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

hope this helps

This is the Ati, chipset, display + audio driver, it will correct all your yellow flags http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/x...grated-xp.html

to work this needs M$ Net framework installed on your comp, go to Win Update - select Custom - look in left pane for drivers for XP and install the Net framwork driver if it is offered, Install - then go back because I'm nearly that it will have another Update to the Net framework you just installed.

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

Hope this helps

After installing ATI....

Thanks for the reply, I was having the same problem and I also ran the 'Everest' and my hardware matches exactly the previous post on the subject and I proceeded on similar lines suggested. I downloaded .NET framework version 2.0 & Catalyst (21/02/2007) and ran both of them.

Two out of three problems have solved, but 'PCI device' is still showing the error (yellow mark when we see from device manager). I tried 'Update Driver' by connecting to the net, but was not successful.

Also I notice when I am starting the system, at the startup screen I get the following error:
'Could not load file or assembly 'MOM.Implementation, Version=2.0.2589.34834, culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=90ba9c708846762e' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified'

Please help...

Thanks in advance....
