You are not alone. I get the same. Are you trying to install this audio driver on XP ? I got laptop shipped with SigmaTel HD audio driver and Vista. No way to make the sound work on XP side.

XP Audio Driver

Thank you regarding the advice on the XP Audio driver but I have got a small hitch. I have a VGN-FE41Z which I converted from Vista to XP. Have got most of the drivers working apart from the Audio one. Followed your advice and installed the KB835221, KB888111 and STDAUD-01108005-UN.exe. It now makes a sound while startup and even gives a beep when I receive an email or an error. But if I try to play a music file it fails, Windows Media Player says "device not working". I would be really grateful for any ideas from all the geniuses out there. Thank you.

I have the same problem i have no clue whats wrong my pc Dell Dimension C521 with vista home basic which is a crappy window. So i decided to simply reinstall my original dell xp professional CD. I installled all the drivers they are all good even SIGMATEL 9200 from the dell site... which did not work so i had to download it from Intel. Now this is what it says in device manager and it still has no sound since I installed my windows...... it does see it in device manger the sigmatel and says it's working properly but the other thing im not aware of i dunno why it says that, so im wondering is there a way to get the sound working btw i have installed the two updates stated above of Microsoft still has no effect

Thanks again but...

Thank you for the input - downloaded it from rapidshare. Installed it - it played a .mp3 - but it only does once - for the second time it does not work. But if I run this downloaded file again it again plays .mp3 file ONCE. It is also showing the volume control in the taskbar - so I must be really close - that last bit of advice would be really appreciated. Would be really grateful if you can help me. Thank you

Hi all,

Seems like I am not alone

I bought a Sony VAIO VGN-FZ104E Laptop which came with Vista. I hate Vista and so I (with great difficulty and by spending extra $150) got XP installed. The problem now ofcourse is finding the drivers. So far the USB ports are working but no sound, the AV Mode button is not working, can't find the driver for the modem, and so on....

I will be really very grateful if someone can help me find the drivers for my Laptop. Also, how can I make my XP CD recognize the SATA drive (when I boot with the XP CD). This is where that guy charged me $150 but though I don;t know the details, but he certainly did not install any SATA drivers because when I try to boot with Norton Ghost or Acronis boot disk, they too do not find the SATA harddisk.

Once again, can someone please help. To start with How do I get the souns drivers up and running and from where do I download KB835221, and KB888111?

Many many advance thanks.

Thanks bookworm. Appreciate your reply and help

...In the meanwhile I found the drivers for sound and the modem.... I've gone through the urls and it seems like a nearly impossible task to find all the drivers for XP.

If I could only get the following XP drivers for my FZ104E:

1. AV Mode Button

2. Driver (and details) regarding how to make a bootable disk which will recognize the SATA harddisk

3. Driver for the Camera

4. Driver for the various card slots

5. Driver for WiFi

Thanks.

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply.. Could not check my mails in the past week.

Send me a PM and the email address at which to send you the Audio Drivers.

BTW, these worked for me but while helping others in the same situation as you, I have come across some folks for whom these did not work

Chow.
