No model shown, get Belarc http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

copy and paste the report, it could be the 5000 series but without being sure
it won't work

Hope this helps

Why do you want to go back to Win XP, are you haveing problems with the System?

This is the link for your Acer aspire 5100 laptop
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers...k/as_5100.html

The most important driver is the Chipset + VGA

all drivers are shown for Win XP and Vista, look at the Vista drivers as these are the most likley ones that will be a problem when you install Win XP. Myself I would get all the drivers for Win XP and put in a Folder ( unzipped if a zip file) . That way you are able to install any yellow flagged problems useing the Hardware Wizard.

This is how
Installing Drivers

Create a folder for what you are downloading

Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder

Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here

That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it ( make a note of file path)

Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation

If no Setup file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

You can use this method by right clicking any yellow flagged piece of hardware and pointing to the folder with all the drivers.

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

Hope this helps
