oh and if anyone has any suggestions as far as the drive D:... alot of the windows profiles and defaults (internet temps and duplicate sound drivers and etc) are already routed to my smaller drive D instead of C for god knows why..... anyways, the sound is my real problem.

This appears to be a HP comp, that Asus board has Realtek AC'97 audio go here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

Realtek is down at the moment so use this alternative site http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4400.html

download (Executable file) save to desktop, double click to install

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Y'know i tried installing the drivers off realtek site (WDM_R164) but the link you gave me was for WDM_399. Which is cool, i was hoping it would be that magic difference that makes it work but...

just my luck, it's not as simple as all that. It didn't work.

I've tried ONBOARD SOUND enabled, disabled, and automatic in BIOS. still "No Audio Device". It's a HP PAVILION 526X.

soooo... HELP!!

please?

It is Realtek AC'97 check this out to see if Realtek is the default driver
Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

If Realtek is not an option go here to HP http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...0 418&lang=en

Under Original drivers install
Chipset driver
Audio driver

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
