Unhappy i formatted my computer to windows xp pro and have no sound

Last May i formatted my computer to windows xp pro and to my surprice some games have sound and others don't. Yesterday I tried to arrange the sound but now it has gone worse, now I can't listen neither to music. Also I noticed that in the device manager there are no exclamation marks near the sound but the location of audio codec is unknown as for the others. if anyone could help me I would be very thankful

Need a little more info, make and model, if not sure Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates.

Need the make and model or the motherboard, if not sure Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates.
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Check this out
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on
down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

First check to see if Realtek is your default audio
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on
down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

get the Realtek audio here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false
