Need Sound-multimedia Audio Controller Driver Problem

I don't seem to have sound on my computer. n.n; That is, from the speakers anyway. My computer, the actual PC, makes a beeping noise once in a while when I start up. Anyway, recently, I upgraded my OS to WinXP, everything seems fine except I don't have any sound. When I checked the device manager, under Other Devices, Multimedia Audio Controller, Ethernet Controller & Video Controller (VGA compatible) had a big yellow question mark in front of it.
The multimedia audio controller properties device status has a message “The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)”.
However my windows media player can play video but still there will be no sound.

your need to install the audio drivers ,,,check device manager and see what info there is ,,if you have onboard sound,, realtec ac 97 drivers your need. just a guess as you have not give much info on your mobo.
