Sound problem after istalling XP Pro on a Vista machine

Good morning!

Our IT department recently wiped Vista off of my new Gateway MT6711 and replaced it with XP Pro. They embedded the drivers for my machine into the operating system CD, but my sound will not work. In fact, it does not even recognize that my sound card exists. I have a Sigmatel soundcard and can find drivers for Vista 32 and 64 bit systems, but nothing that mentions XP which appears to be specific to my driver. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

This SigmaTel audio driver is the same version as listed for your Vista audio, the XP driver is listed as well http://support.gateway.com/support/d...param=1014077R

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions
