Acer TM225x Sound Problem

Hey there, i recieved a friends laptop to repair for him... ie re-install windows and drivers.
I put Windows MCE 2005 on the Acer TM225x after formatting his system... after browesing the acer support site i found all the vga and modem drivers i need however the sound would work.

after investigating the problem i notice in device manager that the device and i quote 'This device cannot start (code 10)'

i presumed this was due to a driver mismatch but now after serval attempts at fixing i've come no closer... The Acer TM225x uses a 'Integrated Intel ICH3 Audio / AC'97 Compatible' which apprently runs 'Cirrus Logic CS4299 rev D' now i've tried 'the Realtek AC'97 drivers' and 'the Cirrus Logic CS4299 1.0 drivers' but still with no joy...

it's really bugging me now any advice?

Don't know if this helps, but the 230 has the XP driver for CS4299-XQ
