Unfortunately none of the info in your post tells us either the make/model of motherboard, or the make/model of your PC. We need to know one or the other in order to source the correct sound driver.

As you have a Dell printer and a Dell monitor, I'm wildly guessing you also have a Dell PC which seems logical to me at least. If that's the case, Dell themselves host all the drivers on their support website. You'll need to know the model name and number:

The computer is a Dimension 2400, not sure how to tell what model the motherboard is though...

I checked the Dell site earlier and looked at the audo drivers/downloads for my computer, there were 3 of them and none seemed to apply to my problem.

Link to Dell drivers http://support.euro.dell.com/support...atid=&impid =

3 audio listed, 1 onboard 2 soundcards

I/O plate - ADI 198x
Expansion slot - Soundblaster

Are your audio plugs on the I/O plate or in a expansion slot, see here, click image to focus http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0io%20slot.JPG

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case

Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions
