Multimedia Audio Controller missing
Can anyone help me with this one. I have been trying for days without success.
Since re-installing windows xp I have no sound. My device manager fives me a yellow question mark against the "Multimedia Audio Controller".
I have run Belarc and my system parameters are as follows:
System model:
FUJITSU SIEMENS SCENIC EDITION
System Serial Number: YBCM188120
Chassis Serial Number: YBCM188120
Enclosure Type: Mini-Tower
Main Circuit board
Board: FUJITSU SIEMENS D2140 S26361-D2140
Serial Number: B00E1596
Bus Clock: 533 megahertz
BIOS: FUJITSU SIEMENS // Phoenix Technologies Ltd. 5.00 R1.11.2140.02 09/19/2005
Operating System
Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600)
I have tried and failed to get the driver for the Multimedia Audio controller of the Fujitsu-siemens website.
Can anyone help? Many thanks

Your audio plugs must be on the I/O plate for this driver to work, if you use an expansion slot then you have a Sound Card installed, see here, click the image to focus
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0io%20slot.JPG
You are correct, no audio driver listed for the model, but the board D2140 has Realtek AC'97 according to Fujitsu go here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...tDown=false#AC
Tick I accept the above – wait till site resets then click Next
Download the (Executable file) save to desktop, double click downloaded file on desktop to install
The site is slow
Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

check this to see if Realtek is default audio
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on
down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

A challenge at best
OK. Tried all and still no luck.
I checked Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab however all is gery out so I was unable to goto Sound Playback click on
down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected.
I have to say this is spuring me on to see if I can beat it or if anyone can help. So far I have learned a lot getting this far so far.
Is there another route for a solution to this problem.
Thanks to all so far for your kind efforts and help.

check this out
Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot.

Thanks for all your help. I really do appreciate it.
Checked - Windows Audio, which shows it has already started and is automatic on the local system.
The configuration from what I can see does not need changing at this stage as the parameters agree to what you have suggested.
I hope this is a challenge for you as it is for me. I completely ran out of idea's.
I am tempted to buy a basic sound card if this fixes this problem, but now have got to a stage to try and stop this computer beating me.

Which FUJITSU SIEMENS SCENIC EDITION do you have, and can you check for a serial number on the comp, and what country of origin is the model from. You may need to check the BIOS to see if audio enabled.
