Angry Yet another sound problem

I purchased an ASUS F5R laptop with Vista Basic which I hated. I have had a computer technician remove Vista and install XP Pro. He had to download the ASUS XP drivers from their site and install them and apparently had heaps of problems. Now, all seems well apart from the sound. I have the start up sound, and any Windows error messages and my Anti Vir program beeps at me when it feels the need, but none of my games have sound, and nor does WMP. (error message reads: Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.)

On reading other threads, I tried the BIOS, but only 2 options came up, one asking if I wanted the POST to sound on startup, the other being the volume level (4). I also tried Device Manager but I just get Audio Codecs and Legacy Audio Drivers which are working correctly. When I go into Control Panel-Sounds I am told there are no Audio Devices.

When I talked to the comp technician that installed XP Pro, he told me to delete the audio driver through Add/Remove Programs and reinstall it, which I did, to no avail. The audio driver is: RealTek High Definition Audio Driver, Version 5.10.0.5319. I went back on the ASUS site, but could only find this one XP driver. I don't think the tech knows what to do next though, so I am hoping someone on this forum does.

Here is my Belarc printout:

Thank you, I sorted it out. Unbelievable, I have been without sound for so long!! I went onto the Realtec site and there were two lots of drivers to download under Hot Downloads. I chose the High Definition Audio driver, downloaded and installed it, and hey presto, I've got sound. I'm off now to post my results in the Asus F5R forum, where dozens of people also seem to have sound problems.
