Mouse Driver and Windows Vista

Hello, I just bought my first PC, and I installed a Windows Vista OS (a Windows XP evaluation pack was installed beforehand)

After that my PS2 mouse stopped working, and when I checked my device manager, in mouse properties, it says, "This device could not start (Code 10)"
And when I clicked the "Check for Solutions" button, it says, "could not load driver software"

I checked the packaging of the mouse, and it says that it is compatible with Windows Vista, what could be the problem?

I tried to uninstall and reinstall the dirver components of the motherboard (SATA/RAID driver, etc.) But it just won't work, what should I do?
