network controller problems

hi there
i am having problems watching any form of video on my laptop
i have a acer travelmate 290

i recently reinstalled windows xp home, i am running Kasperskey anti virus
when i reinstalled xp no sound or video would work,

so i downloaded all the necessary audio and video drivers for my laptop,as well as all the other drivers that i could update from the driver site
the sound is now fixed but i still can not play video, although video drivers are up to date

In other devices the network controller has an error mark on it, and this description

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

so, i click reinstall driver but it says the driver can not be found
i have tried going back to the acer driver site to find the network controller driver (if there is such a thing,sorry, for my ignorance

)

In the details part, this is what i see
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4220&SUBSYS_27018086&REV_05\4&167 93A72&0&10F0

If anyone could help me that would be so great!
i just dont know what to do next,

Had a look at Acer, there are 2 different video drivers and a few network drivers, what is the notebooks country of origin and Get Everest, copy and paste the Computer / Summary section

Open Everest - expand Computer - select Summary - select Report - Quick Report - HTML . The report opens, using mouse hold the left button and starting at all above Debug-PCI - highlight all the text - when highlighted right lick mouse - select Copy.

Could be 1 of 2 ethernet drivers - the Realtek - RTL 8139/8 and the Intel Wlan - you have both on your system - go here to Acer http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers...35/tm_290.html

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions
