Dell don't offer the chipset as a download, go here to Intel, No:4 install then restart your comp http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filt...4&submit=Go%21

then install Ethernet driver again

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

This looks like the driver you need from Dell http://support.us.dell.com/support/d...0&fileid=27663

COLOR="Red"]Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case[/color]
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

ps try Win Update site, appears XP has a generic driver, choose Custom and see if under hardware a driver listed for Network, Ethernet or Cnet pro
