Having issues with Video Controller (VGA Compatible) - Missing Driver?

I'm having problems with my Video Controller (VGA Compatible) and my multimedia audio control centre. In Device Manager both come up with yellow question mark and exclamation mark icons next to their names, and both come up under 'other devices'. When I double-click on the icon, the properties window appears with the message 'The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) - To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.' I think that some dodgy anti-virus software (which I have now removed) may have deleted the drivers by accident. I have tried downloading several drivers myself but I remain confused over which to install. My Berlac report is as follows:

Before installing create a system restore point.

Ok, I have installed the driver, but I think I am still having issues; the video controller (VGA Compatible) Is now listed under sound, video and game controllers and the yellow question mark has dissapeared - but when I double-click on it and the properties window appears, it still says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) - To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver." I have tried to reinstall the driver manually according to the hardware wizard by selecting the driver from a list, but each time halfway through the process my computer restarts and informs me that there has been a serious error.

Are there any different drivers that I may need to install other than the one you kindly listed above?

What was the name of the program you uninstalled? Are you running anti-virus software?

I don't think it's running at the moment - I can turn it off if you think it wise. I think I uninstalled 'video codecs'.
