No sound! trouble with MPU-401 Comp MIDI device (i think)

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out why my sound is not working on my computer. My computer recently crashed so I had to reinstall everything but I could not find my Recovery CD for the drivers.

I am not very computer literate, so Im kinda at a loss, but I think it is a problem with my MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device because in the Device Manager there is a (!) by this. Also in the Control Panel, under properties for this device it says:
"This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system."

But im not sure what other devices should be disabled or how to go about that, or if this is even the source of the sound problem.

If anyone could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you!

im in the same boat except im pretty confident with pcs.
i dont have any sound from my pc and its because the MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device is what runs the sound for your pc.
therefore you would need the drivers for it. im also chasing the drivers lol. i was put onto driver detective but im only 15 and dont have a credit card or paypal account to pay for it (cost $29.95 aus)

also go here download the program and run it, a new internet page will open and will give you the stats of your pc which will help you
