Thank you so much for the reply. Sadly thought, there is an error while installing the sound driver. "Driver was not found." If you could give me your 2 cents, replies are welcome and appreciated, thank you.

can you Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates.
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

the reason is that Intel list a different audio driver for that board, need to verify the model.

first this is the link to the Intel drivers http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filt...4&submit=Go%21

now if you have a gateway machine go with the driver snowmonkey linked to and install this way, you will need the path to the uncompressed files you downloaded

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

if still no audio try the Realtek driver from Intel

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

I downloaded the
Audio: Realtek AC97 [AUD_ALLOS_5.10.0.6020_PV_REALTEKAC97.EXE] File and installed it. It put a folder on my desktop with a bunch of things in it. First I tired what you said to do to update the driver, when I clicked on the folder on the desktop, I have to selected on of three folders in it. WDM, Win95, or WinNT4. I selected Win95 out of wild guessing and it came to saying that it could not install because the driver didn't find the necessary software. then I tired opening the folder and clicking the "Setup" icon. It ran to about half way and my computer restarted itself immediately. Any thoughts?

Ok, my guess is that it is the Realtek driver you need, go here
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...tDown=false#AC

this from Realtek is an executable file, just double click the file on the desktop and follow the instructions to install

Tick I accept the above – wait till site resets then click Next
Download the (Executable file) save to desktop, double click downloaded file on desktop to install

The site is slow

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

It ran and about half way into "begin to Install/Update Driver..." (Or something along those lines) the computer restarts its self again. but its like it completely shuts off, it doesn't go through the process of restarting your computer. then it turns itself on. When It restarts, something is open and it says. "Files needed" "The file 'ALCXWDM.SYS' on Realtek AC97 Audio Driver Disk needed." "Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK."
Thank you for the help.

I do what you say. I click the SoundMAX Setup icon and it goes through everything. After it finishes the installation it says "Driver not found. Reboot your system and run setup again." I do as it says and it says the same thing. Any thoughts?
