Multi-media audio contoller

i have a yellow over my multimedia audio contoller. i can't play windows media player, it keeps giving an error message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly."

and on top of that, I can't install any autodesk programs like autocad and studio max. each one gives a different error message
