multimedia audio controller not installing

i've tried countless drivers and uninstall-reinstall of them all. manually and through setups and nothing i do seems to get the sound working on here. recently did a format and have not had sound since. everytime i get the multimedia audio controller error saying the data was invalid and cannot install most drivers i try. here is my everest report

without opening the case and looking at the board I can't be sure which one you need.

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

thx for the info BW, but downloaded all those drivers and still no luck.

the manual for the board says KM266 Pro-MLV if that helps any

It has Realtek AC'97audio these are all drivers http://us.dfi.com.tw/Support/Downloa...FLAG=A&SITE=US

Your audio plugs must be on the I/O plate for this driver to work, if you use an expansion slot then you have a Sound Card installed, see here, click the image to focus

check the BIOS to see if onboard audio is enabled

use the keyboard for all commands - arrow keys
press <Del> key as soon as comp boots

on Main menu go to
Integrated Peripherals - press Enter
Via OnChip PCI Device - press Enter
Onboard AC'97 should show [Auto] if [Disabled] use the + key to change
press F10 key to save & Exit BIOS
y to changes

comp will then load XP

Accept – click Next
Download the (Executable file) save to desktop, double click downloaded file on desktop to install
