Need help

I am new to the thread and am having a big problem with my cd/dvd drivers. I have tried everything to get them to work. I have a toshiba satellite with a matshita ujda760 dvd/cd player. I cannot even see it when I open my computer. I have searched everywhere online for these drivers with no luck. I have even tried to run a recovery disk but it won't se the disk, even on startup. Please help

When you run the recovery, with a Toshiba Satellite laptop you have to press the "C" key as soon as the machine is turned on, this forces the system to boot from the recovery CD. If you miss that opportunity to press the "C" key (you only get a couple of seconds) it won't boot from the CD so recovery doesn't run.

I tried hitting the C button upon bootup and the disk just spins. I hear a clicking sound and nothing happens. The drivers are corrupted somehow, and I am unable to find them on-line or repair them.
