You reinstalled the tablet PC edition? Not the standard computer release?
The input device is listed as a mouse and dates back to 2001.

I was told that if i installed the standard windows xp it could be upgraded by downloading drivers from the acer web site (which i have done and it still doesnt work)... i was never given any disks with my computer though, as acer are being a pain in the arse and basically want you to pay over 50quid each time i have it sent off.

Is the problem that i need tablet pc edition, because i belive my dad said he would get me a copy if thats what was needed.

Cheers for the reply.

p.s. 'yoyobboy' are you retarded?

I would have expected some sort of restore facility from the seller. I think you got fobbed off.

From Microsofts FAQ:
Quote:
Q3: What does Windows XP Tablet PC Edition include that Microsoft Windows XP Professional does not?

A: Windows XP Tablet PC Edition includes everything that is available in Windows XP Professional, and the following additional features:
• Pen Input: Tablet PCs include digital pens that you use to control the computer and to write text in your own handwriting.
• Tablet PC Input Panel: Input Panel is an on-screen keyboard and writing pad. With Input Panel, you can type text without your standard keyboard.
• Microsoft Windows Journal: Windows Journal turns your Tablet PC into a writing pad.
• Microsoft Sticky Notes: You can use Sticky Notes to create and manage short handwritten or voice notes in the same manner that you would keep a stack of paper sticky notes.
• Handwriting Recognition and Conversion: You can write in your own handwriting, and then convert it to typed text.
• Speech Recognition: Tablet PCs have built-in speech-recognition capabilities.
• Document Annotation: You can annotate imported documents with a Tablet PC pen.
• Reading: Your Tablet PC uses Microsoft ClearType technology and a high-resolution display.
• Screen Rotation: You can quickly rotate your screen for landscape or portrait viewing.
• Gestures: You can use your Tablet PC pen to make "gestures." "Gestures" are movements with the pen that complete common tasks.
It appears that is the true answer as it provides complete support.

What I found that may fix it before you go to any expense though, is service pack 2.
There's also this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306906/en-us

Worth a try first?

Drop a note to say if you tried the latter fixes and if it worked.

It was my own fault there was no restore as i formatted the hard drive when i tried to put vista on (im now sticking to xp as vista doesnt run very well on my tablet)

I had a word with someone that works for codemaster (games company) he sent me a link for a stylus driver for the Acer C210.

It seems to work although had a few problems regarding the install.
Didn't work first time, the pen moved for about 20 seconds then stopped again. but after uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it again it seems to work fine now.

Thanks for the information though, greatly appreciated!

Ill post the link so that anyone else with a similar problem can try it. (but as its on mega upload i cant say how long it will be available for)

Link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=96J3E3PT

Thanks again

[if this link stops working please email me as i have a copy of this driver on my computer and will gladly send it via email.]
