Sound Problem.

Hey, I'm new to this forum, and I have a big problem that I didn't really want to bother you guys about, but it seems like my last reosrt.

I recently reformatted my computer, about 6 days ago, and I had many problems with my internet connection. I spoke with Linksys and Rogers executives for hours and hours, and they finally fixed it.

But then I figured out I have no sound drivers, and in 'Sounds and audio devices,' it says I have no playback, recording, or audio device at all.

I've looked for HOURS, had many many problems trying to install Sound Blaster Live (I didn't have it before, but I was told to), and other things. I'm running windows XP Home edition.

The only thing I know about my pc technically is that my motherboard is an Asus p5p800. And I've looked at the asus site, still, no good.

One thing that occured to me was that I could try updating my BIOS by the instructions listed below, but it might not work and I don't have any floppy disks at the moment, though my dad has some at his place.

http://support.asus.com/technicaldoc...Language=en-us

Can anyone help me? Thanks a lot in advance.

So you're not sure you have one or not.

Download everest: http://www.lavalys.com/

Run it, go to the "PCI devices" item. Right click the list that appears on the top right of the window, select "copy all", paste it here.

Your audio driver is Soundmax, it's here at Asus http://support.asus.com.tw/download/...Language=en-us

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions
