Urgently need help with missing sound driver!!

I have just re-formatted my computer and i have no sound now. In my device manager under other devices it says "Multimedia Audio Controller" and it has a yellow "?" next to it. I have tried to find the driver for it for almost a year now and i have had no luck. I have tried to install all sorts of AC'97 drivers and none of them work. It just restarts the computer and im back where i started from (no sound). I think this has something to do with the driver not being "Digitally Signed" by Microsoft because i get a warning about it when i am installing it.
