Eek... No Sound

Hi. I've tried to read through the past posts to find an answer, but I'm a bit overwhelmed.

My son has put together a computer from parts and pieces, and it seems to be working fine except for the speakers. (So, I think I'm at the right place to get some help!) When we plug a headset in, it works just fine. When we plug speakers in, they don't work.

I have no idea how to get all the information about this computer. My son's not sure either. (He had someone helping him who has since moved away.)

Yes, there is a yellow question mark and exclamation point by Multimedia Audio Controller.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
