Lost onboard sound + PCI problem
This is the weirdest thing I have ever seen. After a new build, all worked great. The MB (DFI Blood-Iron P35 Series) naturally came with drivers. I installed them (the audio was really all that was needed) and had no issues. The board had no video, so I also installed the video card in the PCI x16 slot and installed its driver. The only other PCI device is an IEEE 1394 card. Still no issues.
Then I decided to uninstall the audio management program as well as the video management program in order to just utilize the drivers and let Windows SP3 manage each. Once I rebooted the computer, the new hardware wizard came up and said a new PCI device was found. Actually, there were two. I tried to load the driver, but naturally they cannot be found. That is when the sound stopped. There is no sound at all and no audio device is listed in control panel and the new hardware wizard comes up each time windows is restarted.
Under device manager, audio shows working. The unknown PCI devices are listed under Systems Devices with the familiar yellow exclamation mark. Just to see what happened, I rebooted the computer and turned off onboard sound. One of the PCI devices listed was gone from device manager and reappeared after I turned the sound back on in BIOS. I also uninstalled the IEEE 1394 firewire device and both unknown PCI devices were still listed in device manager.
No matter what I try, the wizard will not find the driver, although it is installed. The onboard audio device is a Realtek HD R1.67.
