Strictly speaking you should get the driver from IBM's home-user website as it may have been 'customised' to match the device which Broadcom supplied to them.

Broadcom do have 'reference' drivers but they, too, stress that you should get the driver from the PC maker. The nearest driver I can find at Broadcom is here: http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethe...me_desktop.php

IT's for the 'NetXtreme 5751' Ethernet Controller, and yours is the 'NetXtreme 5750' so it's got to be worth a try.
Hope it works for you.

If it doesn't, I suggest you use your IBM computer's model number as a starting point to finding the driver.
IBM's home PC business & support trades under the name of 'Lenovo' here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...OME-LENOVO#rdt

this is your network driver from Lenovo http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...&validate=true

to get drivers in future go to Lenovo and input your Product Number 8123-LAN here, it's shown in the report
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...id=HOME-LENOVO

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

you need to point XP to where you have extracted the files to, IBM don't give the installation instructions, check where the files have extracted to, and use the If No Setup file method

the file is g3etn12us13.exe, use Search or Find to get the location

Installing Drivers

Create a folder for what you are downloading

Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder

Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here

That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it ( make a note of file path)

Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation

If no Setup file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

this is what IBM say on installation

Downloading the update
----------------------
1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page.
2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save
the downloaded file.

Extracting the update
---------------------
1. Click Start, select Find or Search, then click Files and folders.
2. Type q3etn12us13.exe in the search field, then click Find Now.
This will locate the file you just downloaded.
3. Double-click the q3etn12us13.exe icon.
4. Click Next. Read the license agreement.
5. Click I accept the terms in the license agreement.
6. Click Next.
7. Ensure that "Save files in folder" is set to
C:\SWTOOLS\drivers\ethernet\Q3etn12US13.
8. Click Next.
9. Click Finish to extract the necessary files to your hard drive

Installing the update
---------------------
If you have the Broadcom_4401, 10/100 Fast Ethernet Network
Controller, detailed installation notes are available by opening the
index.htm file in the following directory:
C:\SWTOOLS\drivers\ethernet\Q3etn12US13\B44LENOVO7 35\Manuals

If you have the Broadcom_5789, 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet Network
Controller, detailed installation notes are available by opening the
index.htm file in the following directory:
C:\SWTOOLS\drivers\ethernet\Q3etn12US13\B57LENOVOd t946\Manuals\English

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions
