Help....My computer has lost it's voice!!!

I recently had to restore my computer from the manufacturers restoration disk. Everything works again except that I have no audio. If I download music and burn a CD from it, it will work in my stereo but not from the computer. I checked the device manager and found a yellow question mark on the "Multimedia Audio Controller" with the indication that there is "No Driver Present". When I try to load an appropriate driver either from the restoration disk or from on-line I get "No driver loaded", "Unable to locate an appropriate driver" etc. The drivers that Gateway recommends are already on my computer. When I down load them and try to run them I get, "already on computer, do you wish to overwrite?". Does anyone have any recommendations for me.

The existing driver may be corrupted, so answer "yes" when asked if you want to overwrite it with a new copy.
