no sound

my friend gave me an amd64 athlon pc with freshly installed winxp,and he didnt update drivers and i have no sound,i am finding it difficult to find the right driver and need some advice pls.

Not enough information.

If it's a well-known PC brand (Packard Bell, HP/Compaq, Gateway, Toshiba etc.) you can get all drivers from their website, otherwise drivers can be obtained from the motherboard manufacturer.

Motherboard info can be obtained by downloading and running 'Belarc Advisor' and posting it's report on the forum:

But remember, if it's a 'big name' PC brand you can go direct to their website instead. All you need to know is the model name & number which is usually on a sticker at the back (or on the underside for a laptop). For some PC maker's websites (eg Gateway) all you need to know is the PC serial number.
