cd drive cd spins for some time and suddenly stop spinning

hi friends,
my cd drive was working fine Yesterday, today it is not working properlly. when i insert a cd, cd spins for some time and suddenlly stop spining and a message is pop up saying that please insert the CD..
i don't know what to do. any one help me out from this.

Hi, what type of cd are you trying? Program or files? Have you tried a few different cds? Is it a burner? Can you burn some files to a cd then try and read them.
