packard bell notebook sounds

ive just had to install a new xp disc onto my comp [as lost the old 1] everything is working except theres no volume, and ive checked, and its saying theres no sound card on the comp, yet i know there is, ive got my beeps on certain things but nothing else, i dont know the model , but its 4yrs old [if thats any use] , any help would be appreciated, thankyou..

need more info get Belarc, copy and paste the report but leave out the win update section and the Software Licence section it gives your Win Product code
