Multimedia Audio Controller problem

Hi there.
Recently there's a problem with the Multimedia audio controller and when i tried to reinstall it back, the icon turns into a yellow question mark and it became a unknown driver. - which causes my desktop with no sounds at all.
It used to worked fine but right after i deleted some unwanted programs from the "add/remove programs" & reboot the computer, some of the audio drivers went missing.

This is my motherboard info :

there are several versions of this board and 2 audio drivers - one Realtek - here at MSI
http://asia.msi.com/index.php?func=d...=1&prod_no=600

and C-media audio here at MSI
http://asia.msi.com/index.php?func=d...=1&prod_no=543

you will need to try both drivers, so the Restore Point is important

Set a System Restore Point before installing driver just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

Hi bookworm.

I've downloaded "Realtek ALC Series AC97 Audio" & C-Media drivers but it still doesn't work.

Please take a look at this :

use this program to check the board Everest / copy and paste the Computer – Summary section. Leave out the Debug –PCI section.

check Device Manager and see if anything under Sound, video and game controllers is Disabled, if so right click and select Enable

check this out

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot

It worked now.
it seems that i've plugged into the wrong jack hole. That is why its not working even though I had downloaded the driver.

Thanks for your help, bookworm ! really appreciate it.
