I ran everest and this is what it said about my video controllers

I'm running windows xp (i downgraded thus the issue) on a HP Pavillion dv6000. any other required info: please ask for it and how to find it and i will provide it for you. all help would be much apretiated!

I think most of the HP Dv6000 series use an Nvidi chipset, download the drivers from http://www.nvidia.com/page/home.html

You could look under your laptop, it'll say the model series which as you've mentioned is a DV6000, under that, it'll say something like Dv6xx etc, go to http://www.hp.co.uk
Put in that model number, select Software and drivers, choose your OS, Vista, XP etc, then select the Video driver.
