Unimodem audio drivers!!!!

A friend asked me to look at his desktop as the all to common no sound problem has occured,i checked in device manager and got the usual story about no drivers being installed for the audio device,i then ran belarc and brought up the pc profile so i could see what kind of audio controller was installed, its listed as a unimodem half duplex audio device!I have searched online for at least 45 mins to try and find the correct drivers for this but im going nowhere fast! Can anybody help me to find these mysterious audio drivers? by the way the pc is running xp home sp3

go here to Packard Bell - install the RTC ALC655 audio driver
http://support.packardbell.com/uk/it...4218301&g=2000

Set a System Restore Point before installing driver just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions
