Unhappy cd/dvd drive configuration information (registry) incomplete or damaged (Code 19)

Hi i was wondering if any of you could help with this

My cd/dvd has stopped working it is not coming up on my computer but it comes up on device manerger saying:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

I do not own any roxio software and if anyone would help me i would be soooooo greatful

oh yes the laptop i own is a ei system corrento running on vista

Code 19 has been my problem too and nothing seems to work when I try to fix it. Then I came accross this thread and followed the link to this website and it guided me step by step to an instant fix to this Code 19 error. Now I know just the right place to go for technical problems on my computer. Thank you so very much!!!!!!

I followed the link posted, and it still didnt fix the problem. Any other suggestions?
