No sound after reinstalling XP - total computer dummy - please help!

Hi guys,

I had a major system error a couple of weeks ago and had to reinstall XP as I couldn't repair it. I now have no sound. It seems my drivers have disappeared. The PC was a donation from my sister and she can't find the CD with the drivers on.

I've tried to solve this myself by following advice given to other posters but quickly realised I'm out of my depth - I have no idea how to obtain all the information they post so that they can be directed to a driver download.

I would really, really appreciate any help you could give me, especially as my 6 year old daughter is frustrated with not being able to use the PC properly - a lot of her games rely heavily on sound.

Please don't worry about sounding patronising or anything - this may be a lot more successful if you break things down so that I can grasp them!

Thanks in advance,

Vicki
