Re-installed windows, no internet connection, missing drivers.

I just re-installed windows xp home edition on my gf's laptop. Under the "other devices" tab in device manager every single controller is missing drivers. Just installed Everest and I've been searching driverguide.com for the drivers to no avail. Here are the specs:

Drivers here at Gateway http://support.gateway.com/support/d...=pn&param=5380

1st install the Intel chipset driver - then Restart your comp

check Device Manager again to see what is missing, then install the other drivers,

2nd video is Intel

Set a System Restore Point before installing any drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

When I try to install the chipset I get an error copying file or folder message that says Cannot copy file: Cannot read from the source file or disk.

So I tried installing the other chipset, which worked, but all other devices still have the exclamation point. Ethernet Controller, Mass Storage Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, Network Controller, PCI Modem, Video Controller, & Video Controller(VGA Compatible).

So I made some progress last night. I finally got the wireless working but I still get nothing when I plug in the DSL cable at her house. I know the connection is good because it works with other pc's, but not with this one. So as of this morning I only have 5 of the original 9 still missing drivers, Ethernet Controller, Mass Storage Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, & PCI Modem.
