1394 connection?

Question 1394 connection?

What exactly is a 1394 connection? it is the only connection i have from my PC and i cannot connect to my internet even though it is connected via ethernet cable. It is connected but will not send or receive data.
If there is any kind of network drivers i can install for it or anything anyone can recommend it would be greatly appreciated, i ran belarc advisor and here are my system details:
