Eidos Millionaire

Hi,I have a copy of the eidos "who wants to be a millionaire" which will not run in xp even after trying the compatibility wizard.Anyone have any suggestions for a work around? The eidos people have not released an xp cd-rom yet and offer no fixes at all.It is frustrating as this program is the only so called game I have ever installed on any pc.Regards,pcfanatic2.

As I have already stated all I did was go to the buena vista web site where I saw on a check list of programs that they found would work in xp and noted they included who wants to be a millionaire.I then tried manually to install the program with no joy,At this point I tried to install using xp,s add\remove programs wizard which eventually proved successful-no real magic I,m afraid just perseverance.regards pc fanatic.,

who wants to be a millionaire

Hi Scouse,The game is excellent,I am not a games person as a rule but it is excellent entertainment ahd it smartens up your general knowledge to boot.It just like being on the show and can get you going especially when you reach the higher cash levels. It does not seem to run out of questions and is always interesting. It is quite a large program almost half a gigabyte!I am absolutely delighted that I managed to get it to work in XP Home.At first my norton cleansweep intefered slightly as it thought I was treying to install instead of play, but disabling that while I ran the game solved the problem.I have to say on my xp system the game runs much faster.Regards.pc fanatic.

re who wants to be a millionaire

Hi,Scouse.I feel I need to give you some further advice if you are going to purchase a copy of who wants to be a millionaire. The copy I am running is the ORIGINAL version which obviously I can verify will run fine in XP.There is a second edition of the game which I cannot verify will run although I see no reason why it should not be ok.The difference between the two is revised questions and the capability for up to 16 players in V2 as opposed to 4 in V1.(why anyone would want 16 players is beyond me).As far as I know there are only these two versions of the eidos game but there are other versions which do not have Chris Tarrant hosting them,so be careful. You should be able to spot these versions as they do not show Chris Tarrant on the back whereas my version does. The front of my version carries the millionaire symbol we all see on the tv and the back shows Chris in the bottom left wearing a black jacket.Be sure you get the right version, regards pc fanatic.
