Unhappy Logitech Freescan Scanner

Logitech Freescan Scanner

Does anyone have a driver for this ancient, but is seems indispensable, scanner. I have a friend (honestly) who is trying to find a driver for windows 98 edition for this item. I know Logitech sold their scanner division on but when searching the net, including drivers.com to no avail I have found that there are many people in the same position?

I think I can help you out

If you are using up to Win98 operating system the 95 install disk that comes with the machine will work-drivers and all

I have a copy of this and will happily burn a copy if needed

Quite simply because of the way the drivers communicate with the board, it will not work on NT or any platform which was born out of that stable - this includes Windows ME,2000 and XP - all of which were NT based.

It's a real shame cos the scanner itself is a really good bit off kit but I also have the same problem as I have migrated to XP.

Just have to spend out on a flatbed scanner and a new shelf to stick it on!

I have the program for the Logitech Freescan, however I just purchased a new computer with Windows XP Proffessional, I was installing it and found to notice that the Logitech driver is not compatible with Windows XP. While researching found out that logitech no longer makes scanners. Does anyone know where I can get a driver for the Freescan for Windows XP. anyhelp will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi there,
I have the CD with the driver for the logitech freescan scanner.
I can email it for free to anyone needing this driver (only for win9x but some say it will work with vmware under other OSs).
Cheers

Logitech Freescan Drivers

Hi all. I am new to this forum but I have one of these scanners and it works almost perfect. I do however need a calibration sheet. I seem to have lost mine, thought there would have been one on the install cd but no.

Also if anyone needs a copy, I can supply copies of my install cd to anyone who needs it. I could make an .iso file and email it via bigfile.com or I could burn a copy and send it, but I would need reimbursment for the cost of the post.

Finally, the drivers and software for this scanner were written for Windows 95 ONLY. They are NOT compatible with XP, 98(tried about five different builds of this),2000, NT, or any version of Vista.

BUT, by a strange quirk in the way the Microsoft guys rewrote the 98 code, the drivers and software work perfectly under its later cousin Windows Me. I tried ALL of the other OS,s, believe me I didn't miss a trick. As I type though I am scanning stuff into my Me loaded old laptop, good ol' Dell with a parallel port, trusty old friend.

I have also successfully had the scanner software running on one of my XP loaded Desktop pc's running Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 and then having a virtual Windows ME pc on at the same time. This could be an alternative to buying an older or a second pc as you can have any previous version of windows running at the same time as your main OS. However I have not mamaged to get finish evaluating this way of doing it as I require the calibration sheet to finish trying it out.

I will post it here once I am successful, please, If anyone has a Cal sheet please email me a copy. Thanks.
